An Ancient Lover

The sun embraces me,
Each ray of heat enveloping my body.
Like a lover, he greets me,
Chasing off the shadows and the cold,
He strives to reach every part of me,
To touch and memorize each inch.
At times his eager embraces
Cause people to hide themselves from his intensity;
And at times he holds back his warmth,
Acting cold and unloving to all.
His distance is what causes me to yearn,
But if he were to be any closer
My love for him would wane,
And yet from his distance
He embraces me,
Each ray of heat enveloping my body.
